Timelock's first ever vinyl release 'Contemporary Vintage' announcement

We're happy to announce the upcoming release of ‘Contemporaray Vintage’, Timelock's first ever vinyl release on November 23, 2023.

While planning and preparing the reissues of the band's back catalogue and rehearsing for live shows Timelock decided to rearrange their favourite tracks for the new line-up. And they went a step further, they rerecorded these tracks for inclusion on the reissues.

What the band ended up with was an album's worth of modern classics, a compilation of their favourite songs. Too good…

OUT NOW!!!

Today (14 April 2023) we see the release of the 3rd remastered album of Timelock, 'Circle of Deception'. Originally this album was released in 2002, 21 years ago! It was the first album with Martin Hendriks on guitar. And the drums were handled by Edwin Wernke of For Absent Friends. This album was the first step toward the current musical direction. Just like the former remasters this album is packed with bonus tracks. You will hear previously unreleased unplugged tracks and a live recording of the Radio…

Bio

Habitually there should be a couple of years of silence after each Timelock release. Not this time! After the resurrection of Timelock in 2021 and the release of the EP in June, they were re-energized. This energy surge resulted in the release of their fifth full lenth album 'Sygn Yn' with 6 brand new songs including a 19 minute epic.

The now 8-headed band that started in the early nineties, continues to make progressive rock with various twists. Founding members Julian Driessen (keyboards) and Ruud Stoker (vocals) still strive to keep that element in the music. With the solid foundation of Rob Boshuijzen (drums), David Guurink (bass) and the rock roots of Martin Hendriks (guitars) the present album of the re-enforced band is best described as Symphonic Hard Rock.

Arjen van den Bosch (orchestral keyboards), Laura Eradus and Coby van Oorschot (backing & additional vocals) make up a special contribution to the present sound. This really puts an extra dimension to the compositions.

The new album ‘Sygn Yn’ shows the diversity of the possibilities of the improved Timelock. It’s rocking, it’s proggy, sometimes sensitive, surprising, but still recognizable as Timelock.

Since the release of 'Sygn Yn' the band have been working on two major endeavours. The first is the series of rerelease of the complete back catalogue of the band to be released in 2023 and 2023. The completely remastered albums contain previously unreleased material ánd rearranged tracks recorded by the new line-up of the band. The second of course is the recording of the follow-up to 'Sygn Yn'planned for release in 2024.

No hibernation this time for Timelock!

What the band ended up with was an album's worth of modern classics, a compilation of their favourite songs. Too good to leave scattered over 4 different albums.

It was decided to compile the rerecorded tracks on a new compilation album, and to release it on vinyl, a first for Timelock! 'Contemporary Vintage', as the album is aprtly titles, will be released on recycled coloured vinyl to add to recycling of the album.

That after the great conjunction of Jupiter and Saturn at the end of 2020 the unexpected could suddenly be expected is a logical story. But the fact that the progressive rockband Timelock, originally from The Hague (NL) , which caused a furore in the 90's with their infectious, Saga-like progressive rock, would make a comeback in 2021 is something of a different order.
Timelock's last achievement is now about 15 years ago, when the album “Buildings” saw the light. A couple of years ago "Circle of Deception" guitarist Martin Hendriks sought out founders Julian Driessen (keyboards) and Ruud Stoker (vocals) to write new material for his MHX Music YouTube channel. The idea to record a few songs quickly got out of hand and now there is both an EP and an album ready to be released.
The big questions are of course "Will the band pick up where they left off in 2006?" And "Who are the other band members?" On closer inspection, the band picks up where they left off after the release of "Circle of Deception" (2002) when Martin Hendriks and Rob Boshuijzen (drums) left the band. The approach of the new music is therefore symphonic hard rock. It's all just a bit spicier and in your face than in the past. What is striking are the new acquisitions in the line-up.
Bassist David Guurink, a young fresh guy, who was born with music and is very skilled on the 4-string instrument, completes the basic band. But it doesn't stop there. The greatest musical acquisitions are Arjen van den Bosch, who puts a Nightwish-like sauce on the whole with his orchestral and additional keyboards, and backing vocalists Laura Eradus and Coby van Oorschot, who add an extra dimension to the compositions.
In short, enough to look forward to. Behind the scenes they are currently working hard on the video clip for the single and the release of the EP. So stay tuned and keep an eye on the news. 2021 promises to become the year of Timelock!

The album was released through Xymphonia records and had moderate success. Sadly enough after the release of the album and some live shows the line up at that time fell apart.

The Dawn [2022 edition]

Timelock

'The Dawn' is the second in the series of rereleases of Timelock's back catalogue. Originally released in 1994 'The Dawn' built further on the succes of the band debut album. The band was able to play a lot of live gigs to promote the album and 'The Dawn' turned out to be a relative (it's prog, isn't it?) success.

The Last Detail was the predecessor of Timelock in the eighties of the last century. The band's nucleus line-up consisted of Ruud Stoker and Julian Driessen together with guitarist Bart Feis. But also Timelock member Bert de Bruijne was part of the line-up for some time. 'At Last... The Tale and Other Stories' is a complete overview of the band's endeavours on a double compact disc. And it is a necessary edition for all those who follow Timelock as a band.
